Simplex SIS Frame System Provides USP <797> Solutions

The SIS frame system from Simplex Isolation Systems, coupled with Simplex softwall inserts, provides a guaranteed solution for compounding pharmacists seeking to comply with the requirements of USP <797>.

“Many of our dealers have specified and installed Simplex Airlock cleanrooms for pharmacists who must achieve an ISO Class 5 cleanroom environment for sterile compounding,” said Duane McKinnon, president of Simplex Isolation Systems. “These enclosures have been certified as compliant with the requirements of USP <797>. However, in some cases and depending on the application, some of these enclosures need to accommodate radius or coved flooring for proper cleaning.”

To answer this requirement, Simplex augments their SIS frame system with a 2” x 4” tubular aluminum riser connecting each corner post at the floor level. This riser provides the framework for a flooring contractor to install 6-inch coved flooring.

“Sterile compounding is a critical procedure and requires an environment that meets the highest standards,” added McKinnon. “This new version of Simplex’s SIS frame system, when properly maintained and cleaned according to generally accepted cleanroom practices, allows these specialized pharmacists to meet those standards.”

Founded in 1979, Simplex Isolation Systems designs and manufactures custom cleanrooms that are modular and easily expandable. Simplex products are distributed in the U.S and Canada through a nationwide dealer network. Simplex Helps Firm Expand Clean Manufacturing

FONTANA, CA — Simplex Isolation Systems, a designer and manufacturer of modular cleanrooms, recently completed the construction of more than 2,500 feet of clean manufacturing space in the new facilities of Irvine, CA-based Xcaper Industries. Manufacturing takes place in five of Simplex’s AirLock modular cleanrooms, which are designed as Class 10,000 clean facilities.

“We originally found Simplex through their website,” said Steve Reese, VP of Operations at Xcaper, “Simplex has not only provided excellent cleanrooms, but from our first meeting they have also been a source of solid advice and guidance when it comes to clean manufacturing.”

Xcaper Industries manufactures the Xcaper® Smoke Mask. The mask, impregnated with an all-natural plant extract, delivers protection in fires by absorbing hazardous toxins, such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, and 100% of particulate matter common to the smoke in such fires, allowing people safe passage as they exit a building.

Xcaper started manufacturing several years ago with a Simplex AirLock in their original facility, also in Irvine. In the last few years the combination of heightened awareness of the dangers of fires in the workplace, and the quality product developed by Xcaper Industries, has resulted in substantial increase in product demand, and the need for more manufacturing space.

“Xcaper is a great example of how the AirLock cleanroom can easily create a clean manufacturing environment,” added Duane McKinnon, president of Fontana, CA-based Simplex. “Our latch-together, modular design goes together quickly and allows for easy expansion, and for a rapidly expanding business such as Xcaper, that ability to expand is important.”
